(Temporarily on hold – June 2021)
Funded by People’s Health Trust using money raised through The Health Lottery in Scotland, The Easy Access Course was an 8-month access auditing course, open to any disabled person in the Glasgow area and primarily held at the Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living.
The idea behind this course is to bring disabled people together in social settings, addressing the isolation that can come with disability, utilising the skills, knowledge and lived experience of the community to feed back to service providers and planning. This benefits the community as a whole, as service providers are given information to become more accessible. Participants develop skills, confidence, and expand their social networks through the project, holding
• Sessions discussing access for all disabled people.
• A detailed breakdown of all considerations required for a full access audit of any venue, including minimum accessibility standards and the Equality Act 2010.
• ‘Access in the Community’ days: visiting venues with disabled people, gathering feedback which is relayed directly to management. Example destinations include the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Glasgow Science Centre, the Riverside Museum and others.
If you would be interested in attending a future course (subject to meeting restrictions and funding) just get in touch by phone (0141 946 8488) or by email: info@glasgowaccesspanel.org.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you!
